It seemed like the only way they'd get to know each other in school, at least in my own little headcanon where the Slytherins who aren't Death Eater kids/kids of pureblood supremacists tend to keep their heads down in school so as not to attract any attention.
I made Daphne curvy pretty much solely because it feels like I default to a slender body type a lot in fics, and I felt like doing something different.
